Liturgy of the Word for Children is held each Sunday concurrent with the 9:00 Mass.  Children should be in the Hall by 8:50.

On September 21, 2008 at our 10:30 a.m. Mass, Bishop Dooher will be here to officially install Rev. Joseph McCarthy as our Pastor. Please mark your calendars so you can be at of this important parish event and celebration. This mass will run only slightly longer than a regular mass. More info to come!

“Sign up Sunday” for ARISE Together in Christ is next weekend. Please give thoughtful and prayerful consideration to selecting a day and time for your weekly participation which will begin the week of October 5th and continue for six weeks. “Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect.” Letter of St. Paul to the Romans 12: 1-2.

 

Cursillo is a Spanish word meaning a short course. The Cursillo experience begins with a weekend course in basic Christianity which provides practical insights into the everyday life of faith and service. The weekend is a back-to-basics experience which often deepens and rounds out what one has learned about Christ earlier in life. Through World Vision, Boston AIDS Africa is coordinating a Caregiver Kit program for those living with AIDS and their care givers. They are in need of kit sponsors at the cost of $30 per kit. If you are interested in helping, please contact Kathy Fanning at 781-826-9233. Kathy is coordinating our parish effort. Deadline is September 25th.

 

MEET YOUR NEIGHBORS from the South Region of the Archdiocese of Boston beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart High School in Kingston, MA, on September 28th.  Parishioners of all ages from the many South Region parishes will be attending this once-in-a-lifetime 200th Anniversary Celebration of the founding of the Archdiocese of Boston. 

 

Clothing DrivesAs you clean out those clothes as we change seasons, you may want to put aside any ‘gently worn’ articles that you no longer want. We will be holding 2 clothing drives in late October- St. Francis House (men’s clothing) and St. Vincent de Paul (children’s, women’s and some men’s clothing). More info to come!

 

ATTENTION ALTAR SERVERS! – You are invited to an altar server appreciation Mass with Cardinal Sean O’Malley on Saturday October 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. Contact the parish office if you are interested in attending.

 

Archbishop Williams High School will host a High School Fair for 8th graders and parents on Sunday September 21 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the school gymnasium, 80 Independence Ave, Braintree. Cranberry Hospice, a nonprofit organization that has provided support for people with a life-limiting illness for the past 27 years, will begin an eight week volunteer training program Monday, September 22. at Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle in Plymouth. Do you know someone who is carrying grief and sorrow over past abortions? Project Rachel is the post-abortion ministry of the Catholic Church to help those dealing with the pain of abortion. Project Rachel will offer three "Come to the Waters" post abortion healing retreats this fall: Saturday, October 18, or November 15, 2008. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Mrs. Mary Doller, our Religious Education Director, has retired effective September 1, 2008. We thank her for all her years of dedicated service and wish her well as she begins a new chapter in her life. We hope to have a little celebration for Mary soon. GOOD LUCK Mary!!

Our new Religious Education Director is Mr. Howard League. As many of you know, Howard has assisted Mary in the program since 2006. He organized and currently works with our Children’s Liturgy program and with our Confirmation candidates on their community service programs.

Congratulations and GOOD LUCK to both Mary and Howard!

If you have not registered your children as yet and you wish for your children to attend Grades 2 through 5 Family Day, you should come to the Religious Education Office to choose your day and time.  Homeschool and Grades 6 through 10 may register through the mail.  We still need teachers at the following levels:

Monday   3:30 – Grade 3

Tuesday  3:30 – Grade 5

                4:45 – Grades 4, and 5

Wednesday   3:30 – Grade 5

Thursday – 4:00-5:30 alternate weeks, Grade 6 – one more

                   teacher needed

Saturday – 10:00 – Grade 3

Grade 7 – Wednesday:  7:00 – 8:30

                   two more teachers needed

Grade 9 – First Sunday of the month: 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

                   three facilitators needed

Grade 10 – First Sunday of the month: 10:00 – 12:00 noon

                   three facilitators needed

Religious Education fees are waived for anyone who teaches in the program.  There is also a 50% waiver for anyone who is a facilitator or a traffic monitor.

 

Altar Servers:  We will soon begin a new training program for all boys and girls presently in Grades 3 and above who would like to become altar servers.  If you have a child who might be interested, please contact the Religious Education Office at 781-826-8042 or OREStThecla@aol.com
